En el estreno de la temporada, el famoso vampiro Conde Drácula hace una aparición en Sunnydale en busca de Buffy.
A continuación, muerde a Buffy en el mismo lugar donde fue mordido por el maestro y Angel ("Prophecy Girl" y "Día de graduación").
Buffy se libera de su voluntad y Drácula es derrotado y replantear....
La quinta temporada introduce más joven "hermana" de Buffy, Dawn, que aparece de repente en la vida de Buffy.
