El grupo sufre la ausencia de Buffy y decide resucitarla a través de un hechizo que sólo es posible debido al creciente poder de Willow.

Spike que ya había desistido de que ella lo amase, y comienza una tórrida y en muchas ocasiones oscura y maltratadora relación con él. Paralelamente,
el poder de Willow crece y supone problemas de pareja con Tara. Además, Xander se deja ganar por las dudas y deja plantada a Anya en el altar.
